SSRA1 4-Piece Pro Pack — 4 Anchors, Nylon-Tip Set Screws & Torque Wrench

4-Worker Crew Outfit • OSHA/ANSI Certified
Kit Contents 4 × SSRA1 Anchors 4 × Nylon-Tip Screw Sets 1 × Calibrated Torque Wrench

The SSRA1 4-Piece Pro Pack outfits a four-worker crew with everything needed to safely tie off on standing seam metal roofs — without penetrating a single panel. Four certified non-penetrating SSRA1 anchors, four sets of nylon-tip set screws (24-gauge compatible), and one calibrated micro torque wrench in a single bundle. The torque wrench is the critical piece: SSRA1 anchors must be installed to exact in-pound specifications using hand tools only, never impact drivers. This kit ensures every crew member has a properly torqued, code-compliant 5,000 lb anchor point on the roof.

Overview

OSHA and ANSI standards require one independent 5,000 lb anchor point per worker for fall arrest. This 4-Piece Pro Pack provides exactly four certified tie-off points plus the calibrated torque tool needed for code-compliant installation. The SSRA1 is the industry's lightest OSHA/ANSI 5,000 lb-certified anchor at just 4.5 lb per unit, made from solid 6061-T6 aluminum with stainless steel hardware. Each anchor uses twelve set screws (six pairs of opposing screws) gripping the standing seam without ever touching the roof panel — preserving the roof warranty and creating zero leak risk. The included torque wrench is non-negotiable for proper installation: cupped-tip set screws must be torqued to exactly 90 in-lbs (22-gauge steel), and nylon-tip set screws to 180–200 in-lbs (22- or 24-gauge steel). Impact drivers strip threads and crush seams — the calibrated micro torque wrench prevents both. The bundle also includes installed cupped-tip set screws on each anchor plus an additional set of nylon-tip screws so each crew has both options on hand for whatever panel gauge they encounter on site.

Standards & Compliance Notice

OSHA/ANSI Compliant — CSA Z259.15 Not Third-Party Certified

The SSRA1 is OSHA 1926.502/1910.66 and ANSI Z359.18 compliant, with a 5,000 lb minimum static strength rating in all directions of pull. Each anchor was independently tested by an ISO 17025/ANSI Z359.18-accredited lab to a 14,500 lb ultimate breaking strength — nearly 3× the regulatory minimum. The manufacturer does not list CSA Z259.15 (Anchorage Connectors) third-party certification on the product specifications. Canadian provincial OHS codes generally require anchor points to either meet CSA Z259.15 or be rated by a qualified professional engineer to support 22.2 kN (5,000 lbs) per worker for fall arrest. The SSRA1 meets and substantially exceeds the strength requirement, but acceptance for Canadian fall arrest use is the responsibility of the installing party, a qualified professional engineer, or the site safety officer. Workers must always pair the SSRA1 with an inline shock absorber or shock pack — required by the manufacturer regardless of certification jurisdiction.

Compatibility — Standing Seam Profiles

The SSRA1 fits over 95% of standing seam panels in the industry — over 500 specific profiles including snaplock, single-lock, double-lock, T-seam, bulb seam, mechanical lock, MR-24, and trapezoidal styles. Approved for 22- and 24-gauge steel only. Not compatible with aluminum, copper, zinc, or other soft metals (set-screw pressure deforms soft metals and compromises grip). Not compatible with curved, tapered, or batten-seam profiles. Nailstrip-style panels are approximately 50% compatible — some seams are too wide at the base for proper engagement. Always perform a test fit before committing to a full installation using an RCT seam clamp or single SSRA1 anchor against your exact panel profile.

Why the Torque Wrench Matters

The SSRA1 holds 5,000 lb because the set screws are torqued to a specific in-pound value — not "tight enough by feel." Cupped-tip screws on 22-gauge steel must hit exactly 90 in-lbs. Nylon-tip screws on 22- or 24-gauge steel must hit 180–200 in-lbs. Under-torque means the anchor can slip during a fall event. Over-torque can strip the threads or crush the standing seam itself, voiding both the anchor's grip and potentially the roof warranty. Impact drivers are strictly prohibited — they spin too fast, apply uncontrolled torque, and routinely cause both failures. The included calibrated micro torque wrench has a click-to-torque mechanism that audibly signals when proper torque is reached, eliminating guesswork. One torque wrench services all four anchors in this Pro Pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this kit recommended for a 4-worker crew?
OSHA and ANSI fall arrest standards require one independent 5,000 lb anchor point per worker. Four anchors = four certified tie-off points = a fully compliant crew of four. Add the included calibrated torque wrench for code-compliant installation, and you have everything one crew needs in a single bundle.
Is the SSRA1 CSA certified?
No. The SSRA1 carries OSHA / ANSI Z359.18 compliance and has been independently lab tested by an ISO 17025-accredited facility to a 14,500 lb ultimate failure — nearly 3× the regulatory 5,000 lb minimum. It is not third-party certified to CSA Z259.15. Canadian fall arrest use should be verified with a qualified professional engineer or your site safety officer before installation.
Which set screws should I use for 24-gauge steel?
Always use the nylon-tip set screws for 24-gauge steel panels, torqued to 180–200 in-lbs. Cupped-tip set screws are intended for 22-gauge steel only (torqued to 90 in-lbs). Using the wrong screw type or torque value risks anchor slip during a fall event. The kit ships with cupped-tip screws installed, plus an extra pack of nylon-tip screws per anchor so you can swap based on the panel gauge on site.
Can I use these anchors for a horizontal lifeline?
Yes — the four base anchors in this Pro Pack are compatible with the SSRA3 Anchor Plate adapter, which lets you mount a horizontal lifeline across the standing seams. Remove the SSRA1 D-rings, bolt the SSRA3 plates to the anchor bodies, and connect your HLL system. SSRA3 plates are sold separately. For a complete HLL kit, see our SSRA 100' Horizontal Lifeline Kit (4 SSRA1 + 2 SSRA3 + lifeline components).
Does one torque wrench work for all four anchors?
Yes. One calibrated micro torque wrench is included and services all four anchors in the kit. Each anchor has 12 set screws, so the wrench is used 48 times across the full kit installation. The click-to-torque design audibly signals when proper torque is reached on each screw.
Are these anchors safe for use on copper or aluminum roofs?
No. The SSRA1 is designed and certified for 22- and 24-gauge steel standing seam panels only. Soft metals like copper, aluminum, or zinc cannot withstand the set-screw pressure required for a 5,000 lb rating — the screws will deform the seam and the anchor will slip under load. Confirm panel gauge and material before installation.
Why can't I use an impact driver?
Impact drivers spin too fast and apply uncontrolled torque. They routinely strip the set-screw threads or crush the standing seam itself — both failures that compromise anchor performance and can void the roof warranty. The included calibrated micro torque wrench is the only tool approved for SSRA1 installation. Hand tools only, every time.
How long do the nylon tips last?
Nylon tips are consumable and should be inspected before each installation. The manufacturer notes they typically need replacement every 3–5 uses depending on installation conditions. Replacement nylon-tip set screw packs are available separately. Always inspect for wear before installing on a new project.
