FallTech 7414 Bolt-On D-Ring Anchor with Installation Plate

ANSI Z359.18-2017
Key Specifications 2" x 4-1/2" Plated Alloy Plate 5,000 lb Static Strength 1/2" Bolt Holes

The FallTech 7414 is a permanent bolt-on D-ring anchor for steel structures. A 2" x 4-1/2" plated alloy steel installation plate with an integrated D-ring provides a low-profile, fixed-position tie-off point that bolts directly to structural steel using user-supplied 1/2" fasteners. ANSI Z359.18-2017 compliant with a 5,000 lb minimum static strength rating, this is the workhorse permanent anchor for steel-frame buildings, equipment platforms, and industrial facility tie-off points.

Overview

The FallTech 7414 Bolt-On D-Ring Anchor with Installation Plate provides a permanent anchorage solution wherever structural steel is the substrate. The compact 2" x 4-1/2" plated alloy steel plate sits flush against the steel surface, with two 1/2" bolt holes for permanent attachment using user-supplied structural bolts. The integrated plated alloy steel D-ring delivers a 5,000 lb minimum static strength rating — meeting OSHA and ANSI requirements for fall arrest anchorage. Unlike beam clamps and choker anchors, the 7414 stays put: bolt it to the structure once and it becomes a dedicated tie-off point for every worker who needs it. Ideal for permanent rooftop tie-off, equipment platforms, mezzanines, and any steel structure where a fixed anchor is preferred over a temporary or trailing solution. For installations where welding is preferred over bolting, the 7414P weld-on variant is also available.

Key Features

Permanent Bolt-On Installation

Two 1/2" bolt holes for permanent fixed-position attachment to structural steel. Bolt it once, and it becomes a dedicated anchor point for the life of the structure.

2" x 4-1/2" Plated Alloy Steel Plate

Compact installation plate keeps the anchor low-profile against the steel surface. Plated alloy steel construction resists corrosion in indoor and protected outdoor environments.

Integrated D-Ring

Plated alloy steel D-ring rated at 5,000 lb minimum static strength. Connects to lanyards, SRLs, and lifeline systems for single-worker fall arrest.

Compact Footprint

Small 2" x 4-1/2" footprint allows installation in tight spaces where larger anchor plates won't fit. Ideal for steel beams, columns, and structural framing.

User-Supplied Fasteners

Accepts standard structural bolts in 1/2" size. Allows the installer to select fasteners appropriate for the specific steel substrate, thickness, and service conditions.

Multiple Variant Compatibility

Part of FallTech's 7414 series — the 7414P offers a weld-on variant, and the 7414SS uses a stainless steel installation plate for corrosive environments.

Standards & Compliance Notice

ANSI Z359.18 Compliant — CSA Z259.15 Not Third-Party Certified

The FallTech 7414 is compliant with ANSI Z359.18-2017 (Anchorage Connectors for Active Fall Protection) and OSHA 1926.502 / 1910.66, with a 5,000 lb minimum static strength rating. The manufacturer does not list CSA Z259.15 (Anchorage Connectors) third-party certification on the product specifications. Canadian provincial OHS codes generally require anchor points to either meet CSA Z259.15 or be rated by a qualified professional engineer to support 22.2 kN (5,000 lbs) per worker for fall arrest. The 7414 meets the strength requirement, but acceptance for Canadian fall arrest use is the responsibility of the installing party, a qualified professional engineer, or the site safety officer. Because this is a permanent installation on a structural member, the bolt selection, torque, and substrate adequacy should always be reviewed and signed off by a qualified PE for Canadian projects.

Applications

  • Permanent rooftop fall protection on steel-deck commercial roofs
  • Equipment platforms, mezzanines, and catwalks
  • Steel beams and columns requiring a dedicated tie-off point
  • Industrial facility maintenance access points
  • HVAC and mechanical equipment access on rooftop steel pads
  • Bridge and infrastructure permanent anchor installations
  • Horizontal lifeline end or intermediate anchor (with engineered system)

How to Choose the Right Steel Anchor

The 7414 is the standard plated alloy bolt-on version. For steel structures where welding is preferred over bolting, the FallTech 7414P weld-on variant uses an unplated installation plate ready for field welding. For corrosive environments — coastal, chemical processing, food service — the FallTech 7414SS uses a stainless steel installation plate. For reusable temporary tie-off on steel beams that can travel between locations, see our beam clamp and choker anchor options. For wood roof decking, the FallTech 7493B1 D-Ring Plate Anchor is the equivalent solution. Always pair your anchor with a CSA Z259.10 full body harness and a CSA Z259.11 shock-absorbing lanyard or CSA Z259.2.2 SRL.

Compliance & Standards

Primary: ANSI Z359.18-2017 (Anchorage Connectors for Active Fall Protection)

Also Compliant: OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.66

Static Strength: 5,000 lb minimum — meets ANSI / OSHA fall arrest load requirements

CSA Status: Not third-party certified to CSA Z259.15. Canadian users must verify acceptance with a qualified professional engineer or site safety officer before use in fall arrest applications. Permanent installations on structural steel should always be reviewed by a qualified PE.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 7414 CSA certified?
No. FallTech lists the 7414 as compliant with ANSI Z359.18-2017 and OSHA 1926.502/1910.66 only. It is not third-party certified to CSA Z259.15. The D-ring meets the 5,000 lb minimum static strength requirement common to both standards, but final acceptance for use on a Canadian jobsite should be verified with a qualified professional engineer. Because this is a permanent installation, PE sign-off is the standard practice on Canadian projects regardless of certification.
What fasteners do I need?
User-supplied 1/2" structural bolts. Bolt selection — grade, length, torque — depends on the specific steel substrate thickness, the connection geometry, and the loading requirements. For a permanent fall arrest anchor, the bolt specification should be reviewed by a qualified professional engineer. FallTech's installation manual provides general guidance, but project-specific engineering is the standard practice.
What's the difference between the 7414, 7414P, and 7414SS?
All three share the same D-ring and 5,000 lb rating. The 7414 has a plated alloy steel installation plate for bolt-on installation. The 7414P has an unplated installation plate designed for weld-on installation (the unplated finish is required for proper weld penetration). The 7414SS uses a stainless steel installation plate for corrosive environments where plated steel would degrade.
How many workers can tie off to this anchor?
One worker per anchor in fall arrest mode. The 5,000 lb static strength rating is for single-person fall arrest. For multiple workers, install separate anchors at appropriate work positions, or specify an engineered horizontal lifeline system rated for the required number of users.
Can it be used on aluminum or other non-steel structures?
FallTech designs and rates the 7414 for installation on structural steel. Installation on other substrates — aluminum, fibreglass, composite — falls outside the manufacturer's specifications and would need to be evaluated and certified by a qualified professional engineer for the specific application.
Is the anchor reusable after a fall?
Any fall arrest component that has arrested a fall must be inspected by a competent person following the event. Inspect the D-ring for deformation, the installation plate for bending or bolt-hole elongation, and the bolts and underlying steel for damage. If any component shows damage, the anchor must be retired and the substrate re-evaluated before a replacement is installed.
