FallTech 7021 Journeyman Flex 1D Standard Non-Belted Steel Harness

CSA Z259.10-2018 Class A
Key Specifications Single Dorsal D-Ring Steel Hardware Tongue-Buckle Legs Sizes XS–4X

The FallTech 7021 Journeyman Flex is the steel-hardware, full-size-range 1D non-belted harness — the core workhorse of the Journeyman Flex lineup. Steel D-ring, steel spring-tension roller torso adjusters, mating-buckle chest, tongue-buckle legs, and full XS–4X sizing. CSA Z259.10 Class A certified.

Overview

The 7021 is the reference 1D non-belted harness in the Journeyman Flex line — the SKU everything else in the line compares against. Steel hardware keeps the price accessible. The mating-buckle chest plus tongue-buckle legs give you the most fitted feel through the full range of body sizes. Extended sizing from XS through 4X covers virtually any crew member. For workers who prefer a dialled-in, snug harness fit and don't need fast don/doff, the 7021 is the right call. CSA Z259.10-2018 Class A and ANSI Z359.11-2014 certified.

Key Features

Steel Dorsal D-Ring

Plated alloy steel — durable, cost-effective, and the industry-standard reference for fall arrest attachment.

Steel Spring-Tension Torso Rollers

Simple, robust torso adjusters that hold position reliably with no camlock wear parts.

Mating Buckle Chest + Tongue Buckle Legs

Traditional full-tongue-buckle style harness. Snug, dialled-in fit through a wider range of body sizes than quick-connect.

Extended Sizing XS–4X

Broadest individual-size range in the 1D Journeyman Flex line. Every crew member gets a fitted harness.

Integrated Dorsal SRL Sleeve

Built-in routing for personal SRL attachment — clean dorsal connection.

Ergonomic Shoulder Yoke and Leg Pads

Contoured padding reduces pressure and binding during active work.

CSA Certification Details

CSA Z259.10-2018 Class A — Fall Arrest

Class A certification for dorsal fall arrest. Meets all Canadian provincial OHS requirements for 1D fall arrest harnesses.

  • Roofing and maintenance work
  • Facility maintenance at height
  • Crews preferring tongue-buckle fit
  • Any standard 1D fall arrest application

How to Choose the Right Harness

The 7021 is the base steel-hardware 1D Journeyman Flex. For quick-connect buckles everywhere, step up to the FallTech 7021QC. For aluminum hardware, the FallTech 7021B is lighter. For premium gel padding, the FallTech 7080B Advanced ComforTech Gel is top of the line. For climbing with sternal D-ring, look at the FallTech 7021FD.

Compliance & Standards

Primary: CSA Z259.10-2018 Class A

Also Certified: ANSI Z359.11-2014

Provincial Coverage: Meets all Canadian provincial and territorial OHS requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose tongue buckles over quick-connect?
Tongue buckles allow finer adjustment across a wider leg-strap range, which gives a more fitted feel for some body types. They're also slightly less expensive. Quick-connect is faster to don/doff; tongue buckles hold a custom fit better once set.
How does the 7021 compare to the FallTech 7016?
The 7016 Contractor Plus is an economy-tier harness — basic webbing, standard D-ring, basic padding. The 7021 Journeyman Flex adds FallTech's Visi-Lock chest buckle, integrated dorsal SRL sleeve, ergonomic shoulder yoke, and more robust construction. If budget is critical, choose the 7016; if you want a longer-lasting, more comfortable daily-wear harness, choose the 7021.
What SRL or lanyard pairs with this harness?
Any CSA Z259.11 shock-absorbing lanyard or CSA Z259.2.2 self-retracting lifeline connects to the dorsal D-ring. Browse our lanyards and SRLs for compatible options.
Is a 1D harness enough for most work?
Yes — for general fall arrest in construction, roofing, and maintenance, a 1D (single dorsal D-ring) harness meets all Canadian provincial OHS requirements. Additional D-rings (hip, sternal, shoulder) are only needed for positioning, climbing, or retrieval applications.

SSRA3 Standing Seam Horizontal Lifeline System

The SSRA3 is a standing seam horizontal lifeline (HLL) solution engineered for projects that require a continuous tie-off path on standing seam metal roofs—without drilling through roof panels. SSRA3 is designed to support safer movement along defined work zones where frequent access is required.

This system is commonly specified on commercial and institutional roofs for maintenance routes near rooftop equipment, service corridors, and access paths. By using non-penetrating standing seam attachment, SSRA3 helps preserve roof integrity and supports projects where warranty protection matters.

Continuous Tie-Off Path

Enables workers to remain connected while traversing a work area—ideal for maintenance routes and recurring service access.

Non-Penetrating Standing Seam Mount

Designed for compatible standing seam profiles with clamp-on attachment to avoid roof penetrations and added leak risk.

Project-Friendly Layouts

Suitable for straight runs along enclosures, parapets, and equipment lines where a defined fall protection system is required.

Commercial Roofing Use

Intended for professional crews working on commercial, industrial, and institutional standing seam roof systems across Canada.

Typical Applications

Service RoutesDefined paths for recurring rooftop maintenance and inspections
Rooftop Equipment AccessHVAC units, exhaust fans, controls, and mechanical systems
Travel Restraint / Fall Arrest PlanningSupports system layouts where continuous tie-off is required
Standing Seam RoofsCompatible profiles with non-penetrating clamp attachment

System Design & Site Requirements

SSRA3 horizontal lifeline systems should be planned around the roof layout, required working area, and panel profile compatibility. Confirm your panel gauge, seam height, and intended line run prior to ordering. Installation must follow manufacturer requirements and applicable safety regulations.

Built for Canadian Commercial Projects

SSRA3 is commonly considered for Canadian projects where rooftop access is frequent and a consistent tie-off route improves safety and workflow. It’s a practical option for facilities teams and contractors needing reliable fall protection on standing seam roofs.

  • Non-penetrating roof attachment helps preserve roof integrity.
  • Continuous tie-off support for defined rooftop work zones.
  • Ideal for maintenance routes on commercial standing seam roofs.
