Malta Dynamics P-00039-1 Temporary In-Line Shock Absorber | Canada
HLL IN-LINE SHOCK ABSORBERFOR MD POST SYSTEMSMODEL P-00039-1
The Malta Dynamics P-00039-1 is the in-line energy absorber for Malta's temporary horizontal lifeline. Installed in the cable run, it deploys in a fall to dampen the impact load passed into the MD I-beam or concrete stanchions. It also takes the bounce out of the horizontal cable, which cuts the chance of cascading, where an SRD's brakes lock, unlock and lock again. Sold as one each, temporary use only.
Malta Dynamics P-00039-1 in-line shock absorber key features
Where the P-00039-1 absorber goes in a Malta HLL run
Fit the absorber in line with the horizontal cable between the MD posts (P-00041-1 I-beam clamp or P-00041-10 concrete bolt-on), as Malta's system instructions show. When a worker falls, the absorber deploys and limits the force transferred to the stanchions and the structure. Inspect it before each shift and retire it after any fall or once it has deployed.

Malta Dynamics P-00039-1 temporary shock absorber FAQ
What does the P-00039-1 in-line shock absorber do?
It deploys when a fall occurs and dampens the impact load transferred to the MD I-beam or concrete stanchions, and it reduces bounce in the cable.
What is cascading and why does this absorber matter?
Cable bounce can make an SRD's brakes lock, unlock and lock again. Damping the cable lowers that chance.
Is the Malta P-00039-1 shock absorber CSA certified?
No. Malta Dynamics builds to ANSI/OSHA. For CSA-marked lifeline parts see our Safety Direct collection.
Which Malta lifeline kit uses the P-00039-1?
Malta lists it as part of the MDK-0060-S temporary horizontal lifeline system.
Can I reuse the P-00039-1 absorber after a fall?
No. Remove it from service once it has deployed or after any fall, as with any energy absorber.
