Fall protection compliance — common questions
Answers you can cite
01When is fall protection required in Canada?
Each province sets its own trigger in its OHS regulation — commonly 3 metres (about 10 ft), and lower near unguarded edges, openings or hazardous equipment. Check your province's guide above, or read When Is Fall Protection Required in Canada?
02How often does fall protection equipment need to be inspected?
Before every use by the worker, plus periodic documented inspections by a competent person as your province and the manufacturer require. Anything that has arrested a fall comes out of service. Work through the inspection checklist.
03Do I need a written fall rescue plan?
Most provinces require a plan to promptly rescue a worker after a fall arrest, in place before work starts. A suspended worker can develop suspension trauma quickly, so a rescue kit and a practised plan matter. Read Fall Rescue Plans in Canada or shop rescue kits.
04Can you help me choose equipment for a specific job?
Yes. Send us the roof type, pitch, crew size and clearance and we'll spec a compliant setup — call 437-475-2066 or email support@fallprotectioncanada.com. Prefer to self-serve? Try Build My System.
