Verify the certification stamp on the product and the manufacturer documentation that ships with each unit. A complete personal fall arrest system requires three components: (1) a roof anchor or anchorage point, (2) a full-body harness, and (3) a connector (shock-absorbing lanyard, SRL, or vertical lifeline with rope grab). Typical service life is 5–10 years from date of first use for synthetic components (harnesses, lanyards, ropes); 10+ years for metal anchors and hardware with proper inspection. Pre-use inspection before every shift; annual formal inspection by a competent person. Retire immediately after any fall arrest event.
