FallTech 7420 Rotating D-Ring Roof Anchor | FPC
The FallTech 7420 is a reusable rotating D-ring roof anchor engineered for residential and commercial roofing, with a 360° swivel D-ring that tracks the worker through their full range of motion. Bolts down to wood, metal deck, steel roof, or Z-purlin structures using the 16 included screws, then comes off clean when the job wraps.
Why Roofers Choose the 7420
- 360° swivel D-ring keeps the connector tracking with the worker — no torque on the lanyard or SRL when moving laterally across the roof
- 10" x 10" anchoring base plate with a 2-1/4" connecting D-ring, sized to spread load across framing members
- Ships with 16 screws pre-matched for wood, metal deck, steel roof, or Z-purlin installation
- Plated alloy steel base plate and D-ring, rated to 5,000 lb minimum static strength
- Reusable across jobs — pull the screws, patch the deck, reinstall on the next roof
- Suitable for use as a tie-off on appropriately rated horizontal lifeline systems
- ANSI Z359.18-2017 Type A certified; OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140 compliant

Typical Applications
Residential Reroofs
Screw down at the ridge, tie off with an SRL or shock-absorbing lanyard. The swivel D-ring is the feature you notice first when you're stepping side-to-side across a slope.
Commercial Flat & Low-Slope
Anchors to metal deck and Z-purlin structures. Pair with a horizontal lifeline when coverage exceeds a single anchor's working radius.
Solar & HVAC Service
Reusable across service calls. Pull it, patch the sealant, carry it to the next roof.
Steel Roof Installations
Fastens through steel roofing into structural members below. Confirm screw length and substrate thickness match the manufacturer's instruction manual before install.
What It Works With
Pair with a shock-absorbing lanyard or SRL: the 7420's 2-1/4" D-ring accepts any standard snap hook or carabiner rated for fall arrest. FallTech commonly pairs this anchor with SKUs 8127B (6 ft shock-absorbing lanyard), 721530LEC (leading-edge SRL), and 84108TP3 (full body harness).
Complete roofing kit: anchor + harness + lanyard + rope grab and lifeline. Contact us if you want us to spec the full kit to your jobsite and crew size.
Installation Notes
Always follow the FallTech MANC40 instruction manual shipped with the product. Key points:
- Install the base plate directly over a structural member — rafter, truss, purlin, or steel decking with adequate gauge. Not rated for sheathing alone.
- Use all 16 supplied screws. Substituting fasteners voids the rating.
- Inspect before every use: check for deformation of the base plate, wear on the D-ring swivel, and integrity of the fasteners and substrate.
- After a fall arrest event, remove from service immediately and destroy or return for inspection — the 7420 is a single-event anchor once loaded.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 7420 CSA-certified for use in Canada?
No. The 7420 carries ANSI Z359.18-2017 Type A certification and meets OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140, but it is not certified to CSA Z259. Most Canadian provinces require CSA-certified anchors for fall protection. Before using on a Canadian jobsite, confirm acceptance with your site safety supervisor, your company's fall protection plan, or the Authority Having Jurisdiction in your province. If you need a CSA-certified roof anchor, contact us and we'll spec an alternative.
Can I reuse the 7420 after I take it off a roof?
Yes — provided it has not been subjected to a fall arrest event and passes a pre-use inspection. The 7420 is designed as a reusable anchor. Once you pull the screws, inspect the base plate for deformation and the D-ring swivel for wear, then reinstall using fresh fasteners on the next job.
What's the difference between the 7420 and the FallTech 7410?
The 7410 is a hinged reusable wood roof anchor — the D-ring pivots on a single axis. The 7420 steps up to a true 360° swivel D-ring, which means less torque on your lanyard or SRL when you move laterally and a freer working range. The 7420 also accepts a wider range of substrates (wood, metal deck, steel roof, Z-purlin) where the 7410 is wood-only.
What's the maximum worker weight?
130 to 310 lb under ANSI Z359.18-2017. OSHA allows up to 425 lb. The lower ANSI ceiling includes the worker plus all tools, clothing, and equipment — check your connected gear's capacity as well, since the anchor is only one link in the system.
Do I need to remove the anchor after the job?
If the anchor is installed as a temporary fall protection measure for the duration of the roofing work, yes — remove it, patch the fastener holes per roofing best practice, and store the anchor for the next deployment. If the anchor is installed as a permanent attachment point (for future re-roofing or solar service), it can stay in place, but it still requires periodic inspection per the instruction manual.
