SSRA2 Roof Jack Adapters with SSRA1 Anchors — 2-Pack Walkboard Staging Kit

Non-Penetrating • 6:12 to 12:12 Pitch
Kit Contents 2 × SSRA1 Anchors 2 × SSRA2 Roof Jack Adapters Mounts 10' Walkboard

The SSRA2 Roof Jack Bundle is the complete turnkey kit for installing walkboards on standing seam metal roofs without penetrating the panels or voiding the roof warranty. Two SSRA1 standing seam anchors clamp directly to the roof seams using set screws — no holes, no caulk, no leaks. Two SSRA2 adjustable adapters bolt onto the SSRA1 anchor bases, level themselves to the roof pitch (6:12 through 12:12), and accept a standard 2"x10" walkboard for safe staging on steep-pitch standing seam roofing projects.

Overview

The SSRA1 + SSRA2 bundle solves the steep-pitch staging problem on standing seam metal roofs. Traditional walkboard brackets need to be nailed or screwed through the roof — unacceptable on standing seam systems where panel penetration voids the manufacturer's warranty and creates leak risk. The SSRA system uses a non-penetrating clamp design: the SSRA1 anchor grips the seam with twelve stainless steel set screws (six pairs of opposing screws) torqued to spec, holding 5,000 lb minimum static strength without ever touching the roof panel itself. With the SSRA2 adapter mounted to the SSRA1 base, you have a level, stable platform for a 2"x10" walkboard — installed in minutes, removed without a trace at the end of the job. The 2-pack supports a single 10' walkboard with the recommended 8' maximum spacing between adapters. For longer runs, multiply the kit count to match.

Key Features

Zero Roof Penetrations

Non-penetrating clamp design preserves the building owner's roof warranty. No holes, no caulk, no leaks — just clamp on, do the work, and remove cleanly.

6:12 to 12:12 Pitch Range

Adjustable stabilizer legs level the walkboard mount on roof pitches from 6:12 through 12:12. Padded feet rest on the roof panel without scratching the finish.

SSRA1 Universal Seam Fit

Patented SSRA1 anchor body fits over 500 standing seam profiles including snaplock, T-seams, bulb seams, mechanical lock, and trapezoidal panels. Approved for 22- and 24-gauge steel only.

14,500 lb Ultimate Failure Tested

The SSRA1 anchor was tested to a 14,500 lb ultimate breaking strength — nearly 3× the OSHA/ANSI 5,000 lb minimum. Independent ISO 17025/ANSI Z359.18-certified lab testing.

6061-T6 Aluminum Construction

Solid 6061-T6 aluminum body with stainless steel hardware. Lightweight (~4.5 lb per SSRA1 anchor) yet rust-free for outdoor jobsite use across all Canadian seasons.

Fast Install & Removal

Experienced installer can mount an SSRA1 anchor in about two minutes and remove it in about one minute. Hand-tool installation only — no impact drivers permitted.

Important: Walkboard Staging vs. Fall Arrest Use

This kit is sold and rated as a non-penetrating walkboard staging system, not a primary fall arrest anchor system. When the SSRA2 adapter is bolted to the SSRA1 base, the SSRA1's D-ring is removed and the anchor cannot simultaneously serve as a fall arrest tie-off point. To use any SSRA1 anchor as a fall arrest tie-off, the SSRA2 adapter must be removed and the D-ring re-installed. Workers using this staging kit must still wear appropriate fall arrest equipment — a CSA Z259.10 harness with a CSA Z259.11 lanyard or CSA Z259.2.2 SRL — connected to a separate, dedicated fall arrest anchor. Plan your roof layout to include both staging anchors and separate fall arrest anchors. The SSRA1 component is OSHA/ANSI compliant (5,000 lb static strength) but is not third-party certified to CSA Z259.15. For Canadian fall arrest use of any SSRA1 anchor, acceptance is the responsibility of the installing party, the site safety officer, or a qualified professional engineer.

Applications

  • Steep-pitch standing seam metal roofing installations and repairs
  • Solar panel installation on standing seam roof systems
  • Skylight installation and replacement on metal roofs
  • HVAC and rooftop equipment installation requiring level work platform
  • Roof maintenance and inspection on commercial standing seam buildings
  • Snow guard, gutter, and trim installation on steep metal roofs
  • Re-roofing crews working across multiple standing seam projects

Installation Overview

Step 1: Position the two SSRA1 anchors on the roof seams no more than 8 feet apart, oriented so the walkboard will run between them. Torque the set screws to spec (90 in-lbs for cupped-tip on 22-gauge, 180–200 in-lbs for nylon-tip on 22/24-gauge). Hand tools only — never use impact drivers. Step 2: Remove the SSRA1 D-rings (set them aside for later fall arrest use if needed). Bolt the SSRA2 adapters directly to the SSRA1 anchor bases using the two top bolts provided. Step 3: Loosen the SSRA2 stabilizer legs and adjust the bracket face to level for the roof pitch. Snug the padded feet against the roof panel. Step 4: Place a standard 2"x10" walkboard across the two adapters and secure it through the pre-drilled bracket holes using 2" #10 wood screws. Always perform a test fit with an RCT seam clamp or single SSRA1 anchor before bulk installation to confirm proper engagement with your specific seam profile.

Compatibility — Standing Seam Profiles

The SSRA1 fits over 95% of standing seam panels in the industry — over 500 specific profiles including snaplock, single-lock, double-lock, T-seam, bulb seam, mechanical lock, MR-24, and trapezoidal styles. Approved for 22- and 24-gauge steel only. Not compatible with aluminum, copper, zinc, or other soft metals (set-screw pressure deforms soft metals and compromises grip). Not compatible with curved, tapered, or batten-seam profiles. Nailstrip-style panels are approximately 50% compatible — some seams are too wide at the base to permit proper engagement. Always perform a test fit before committing to a full installation using an RCT seam clamp or a single SSRA1 anchor against your exact panel profile. Treat compatibility lists as guidelines, not guarantees — final fitment confirmation is the installer's responsibility.

Compliance & Standards

Application: Non-penetrating walkboard staging on standing seam metal roofs (not a primary fall arrest device when assembled with SSRA2 adapters)

SSRA1 Compliance: OSHA 1926 / ANSI 5,000 lb static strength; tested to 14,500 lb ultimate failure

CSA Status: SSRA1 anchor is not third-party certified to CSA Z259.15. Canadian users must verify acceptance with a qualified professional engineer or site safety officer before any fall arrest application of the SSRA1 component.

Fall Arrest Requirement: Workers using this staging kit must wear separate fall arrest PPE (CSA Z259.10 harness, CSA Z259.11 lanyard or CSA Z259.2.2 SRL) connected to a separate, dedicated fall arrest anchor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this kit also work as a fall arrest anchor?
Not at the same time. When the SSRA2 adapter is bolted to the SSRA1 base, the SSRA1's D-ring is removed and the anchor functions only as a staging mount. To use the SSRA1 as a fall arrest tie-off, you must remove the SSRA2 adapter and re-install the D-ring. Plan your roof layout to include separate fall arrest anchor points. Workers must always wear appropriate fall arrest PPE while working from the walkboard, connected to a separate dedicated anchor.
Is the SSRA1 CSA certified?
No. The SSRA1 carries OSHA / ANSI compliance and has been ultimate-failure tested by an ISO 17025 / ANSI Z359.18-accredited lab to 14,500 lb. It is not third-party certified to CSA Z259.15. The 5,000 lb minimum static strength rating meets the load requirement common to both standards, but Canadian fall arrest use should be verified with a qualified professional engineer or site safety officer.
What roof types does this work on?
22- and 24-gauge steel standing seam panels only. Compatible with most snaplock, single-lock, double-lock, T-seam, bulb seam, mechanical lock, and trapezoidal profiles (95% of the standing seam market, over 500 specific profiles). Not compatible with aluminum, copper, zinc, or other soft-metal panels — the set-screw pressure required for grip will deform soft metals. Not compatible with curved, tapered, or batten-seam profiles. Test fit before committing to a full install.
How far apart should I space the adapters?
Maximum 8 feet apart when using a standard 10' 2"x10" walkboard. This provides full board support and prevents excessive deflection under worker loads. For longer staging runs, add additional kits — never extend a single board beyond 10 feet on two adapters.
Will the anchors damage the roof?
Minor seam dimpling and paint abrasion at the set-screw contact points are normal — the manufacturer notes these are not warranty-compromising and can be touched up with a matching paint pen. The SSRA2's stabilizer feet are padded to prevent scratching where they rest on the roof panel. The whole point of the system is to avoid panel penetration that would void the roof warranty.
Why can't I use an impact driver to install the set screws?
Impact drivers spin too fast and apply uncontrolled torque, which can strip the set-screw threads or crush the standing seam itself. The SSRA1 requires a calibrated micro-torque wrench for proper installation: 90 in-lbs for cupped-tip on 22-gauge, 180–200 in-lbs for nylon-tip on 22- or 24-gauge. A 1/4" drive micro torque wrench with a 3/16" hex bit is the recommended tool — always available as an add-on.
What walkboard lumber should I use?
Standard construction-grade 2"x10" lumber, 10 feet long, secured to the bracket face with 2" #10 wood screws through the pre-drilled holes in the SSRA2. Inspect the lumber for cracks, splits, or rot before use — a walkboard failure on a steep standing seam roof is a serious fall hazard. Replace any board showing damage.
